A weekend from Kyiv: the Vasylkiv direction

Check-ins open on 2026-11-01 — pre-booking is available now

This is not a ranking of places across Kyiv Oblast — we have not seen most of them and will not rate them. It is a detailed account of one direction we do know: Vasylkiv, 35 km from central Kyiv. Here you will find the Vasylkivski Karpaty reserve, Kazkovyi Yar and several places within a five-kilometre radius.

The reserve is the main thing here

The Vasylkivski Karpaty landscape reserve is 226.8 hectares of balka and ravines, protected since 1999. Social media calls it "Ukrainian Iceland" and the "Fairytale Ravine". Entry is free, but there are no facilities: no trails, no boards.

What else is nearby

An equestrian club 500 metres away. The Shypland eco-farm at 2 km. Kyivan Rus Park and Kazkovyi Yar at roughly 5 km. All of it fits into one day if you leave early.

If you would rather stay the night, KRAY stands on the slope of that same reserve. Check-ins open on 1 November 2026.
